Holidaying at Horrocks

hi there, I hope you all had a very happy time with your families for Christmas. We travelled up to Critishia's and had lunch with them on Christmas day and then on to Horrock's on Boxing Day. It was 48 deg C when we left and luckily as we got closer to the coast it slowly went down to 36. Graham took the boat out yesterday and caught 7 Skippy so we have plenty to eat for the next few days. Today we have brought Emily back to Critishia's as she was lonely with no phone coverage or Internet access.

Graham's Catch
Skye didn't like the hot ground so was trying to lift all her feet. Critishia has 7 calves that she feeds twice a day and here she is feeding her biggest one Maddy.
well that is all from me for now until I have internet access again.
Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas

hello, I wanted to pop in to say a very Merry Christmas to you and let you know I am off on holidays on Christmas morning. We have our family Christmas gathering tomorrow night and then driving up to Graham's daughters near Geraldton for lunch on Christmas day.
My part in our party was to make the place mats and name cards so I used the fancy favour box die to make the name cards. The theme of the party is Scottish so I used tartan ribbon. I used the scrap off the top of the boxes to put down the side of the place mat with the ribbon. I made 24 of each. Of course I put chocolates in the boxes.

I may get a chance to post during the holiday but if not I will be back early January.
Happy New Year

Itty Bitty Bits

hi there,
I have been away this week having a rest at my Aunty's place. It was nice to not need to do anything at all apart from watch some DVD's read and sleep. I did do one thing that I enjoyed, which was decorate her Christmas tree. It was nice as we are not putting a tree up this year as we are going to be away.

I still have one card to show you from last stamp club which we made using the new Itty Bitty Bits and punches to go with them. I made a fairly clean and simple version that I had found the idea on SCS and then a couple of the ladies stepped it up by adding a pear pizazz layer. I will show you both. The top one I made as Lilac which grows upwards and then Chris made her lovely card as Wisteria that hangs down. I think it looks great with the pear background.

I hope all your Christmas plans are going well for you. I have an easy preparation this year. Have a great weekend.

Punched Posies

Hi there,
I know its been awhile since I last posted. I have been very tired and having more pain than usual so have been doing very little. Anyway I wanted to show you a card I made using the lovely new level 2 hostess set that is in the Summer Mini. I used the colour coach to choose my colours and then went from there. The colours I have used are Peach Parfait, Pear Pizazz and Not Quite Navy. I have also used the new set Well Scripted.

I hope your preparations for Christmas are going along nicely. I have made some place mats and little boxes for name places ready for our family get together. I will take some photos so I can show you later.
thanks for stopping by

Plaid Silhouettes

hi there, I hope you have had a nice weekend. I had stamp club yesterday, and have just been to our church's volunteer picnic and enjoyed some fresh air and company. We took Skye and she was a huge hit with the little kids and she sure enjoyed the run around the oval as well.
I was checking through my photos of cards to see what I could show you as I haven't photographed our stamp club cards yet. Anyway I tried out a new technique a couple of months ago and haven't taught it yet, but will show you the simple card I made. It is using Inspired by Nature. The technique is called Plaid Silhouettes and very easy to do. The colours I have used are Marina Mist and Blushing Bride.
thanks for stopping by and I hope the week ahead goes smoothly for you. I have a nice quiet week ahead with 2 Christmas lunches with my classes which I will enjoy.

Candle Holders

The other gift I made for the Fair was these Metal candle holders made using the Flower Folds die and the Big Shot. I bought aluminium shim from the net, to cut them out of. I still have a roll of it so if you would like some and live in Perth then let me know and I will organise it with you. The second one is also embossed on 2 layers using the Finial Press embossing folder.

I have some of these left and if you would like to buy one off me then they are $4.95 each. The larger Red candle one is not available. I put citronella candles in them and use them for the BBQ.

Lovely as a Tree

hi again, the week is flying by and even though I don't have anything much on I have done no stamping except what I taught today at LBC. We did brayering today and used Lovely as a Tree. This is one of my favourite sets as I use it for lots of different types of cards. I used So Saffron, More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie for the sky and Wild Wasabi and Always Artichoke for the grass. On one I used the set Curly Cute and the other Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

I hope your week is going well and that you have a nice weekend doing whatever you love most. Thank you for stopping by.

Have you missed me....

Hi there, have you missed me. I haven't posted for 11 days and am happy to be able to post something today. I have been busy with a few classes and getting ready for the craft fair I did on Saturday. I have taken a couple of days to get over it as well. I didn't sell many of the gift items at the fair but will know for next time what people like.
Anyway last week I taught the inlaid embossing technique and I made a Christmas card that I have already shown you and also this butterfly card. I punched the butterflies and glued them to the white card and then embossed with the new folder called lattice that will be available in the summer mini which starts on December 1st. I then used the butterfly prints stampset and cut the butterfies out instead of punching them. The sentiment is from the set Curly Cute.

thanks for stopping by. Have a good week.

Candle Holder

Hello again,
I have made a few of these candle holders for the fair I am doing in a couple of weeks. With a red candle it looks OK for Christmas. I'm going to do some with embossing on as well and will show you one when I do.

I have my sister Sue staying today so another short post, so I can spend time with her. She is from Manjimup so we don't see that much of each other so will make the most of the time we have.

Another Owl Card

This is the first Owl Punch card I made using the Wood grain Background. The Owl is so cute. I just thought I would show it not using DSP for the tree. They are so easy to make.

Just a quick post today as I am getting ready for a Stamp A Stack, with lots of cutting to do.

Paper Weaving

hello again, I had a day off from my crafting and went fishing with Graham yesterday. I don't get to spend much time with him, as he works long hours and then on weekends he plays golf, umpires footy in the footy season and goes fishing on his boat. I had planned to go to a local market and a fair, but decided to go fishing, so up we got at 6.AM and went out on the boat. For the first time ever I was seasick and after feeding the fish 3 times, Graham decided to move to a more sheltered spot and that helped. He caught only 3 fish even though we could see them in the water. I had a big one on and was having trouble bringing it in and then it snapped the line. Oh well!!! Anyway it was nice to spend time with Graham, even if we didn't catch much. We got home around 3PM. I haven't been out for about 18 months and think it might be some time before I go again. He can take his mate next time.

Anyway back to card making. I saw this Christmas card on ESAD but cant find it again now to see who created it so if its your idea can you let me know. This card is made with vanilla base and Jolly Holiday DSP.

The second card I made up using retired card and DSP. The base card is Soft Sky and the DSP is Afternoon Tea I think.

I'm having a quiet day at home today so hope to get a few posts ready for the week. Have a happy Sunday.

Friday 5 November 2010

Hi again,
The other gift that I sent to Aly, my Secret Sister was a set of Owl things. I made a card, a post it note cover with pen and also a tea bag gift holder which I forgot to put the verse in. I used designer paper for these items instead of the woodgrain stamp. I knew Aly liked Owls so that was why I made these items. I also sent her some book marks but I haven't got a photo of them yet but will show you when I do. The surprising thing is that when my Secret Sister was revealed  it was Aly that was sending to me. I never once guessed we had each other as Secret Sisters.

have a good weekend.

Fanatsy Box

Hello... have you wondered where I have been this week. I did so well last week and then totally forgot to update my blog this week. I do have an excuse in that I have been busy making gifts for the craft fair I am taking part in in a couple of weeks time. Its the Craft Thyme fair at Cannington on November 20. If you are in the area drop in and visit me.
Today I want to show you a fantasy box that I made for my Secret Sister on ESAD. Now that we have revealed our identity I can now show you the things I sent her. This is the first Fantasy Box that I have made. I filled the little boxes with ribbons and brads etc.

well that is all for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Delightful Decorations

One more card for the week. This card is one that Nicki Turner taught us at our last team get together. Its a great technique where you punch out and glue the baubles to the card before embossing it with the Petals a Plenty embossing folder. I love the effect. Thanks Nicki for showing us this great card.
Have a great weekend.
